Dominium Cigars of Nicaragua

An elegant music for the palate

Dominium Cigars of Nicaragua was founded by the international tenor and entrepreneur Iván Gancedo. Together with a Jalapa master blender, he set out to create a smoking experience like elegant music.

We invite you to slow down, discover the world of Dominium and what patience alone can unlock from a leaf.

When an opera singer from Argentina felt Jalapa.

After opera tenor Iván Gancedo gained access to a 150-hectare tobacco plantation in Jalapa, the plan at first was simple: the harvest would supply him with cigars for his own consumption. The kind that only tobacco growers and factory owners smoke themselves. The kind that is not available to anybody else.

A couple of years went by and visiting friends regularly complimented Gancedo on the outstanding quality of his still-unnamed cigars.

Once he recognized what he held in his hands, Gancedo built a company around it, one that remains independently owned to this day.

"Dominium was not founded as a business. It was founded as a conviction: that the finest tobacco, like the finest music, deserves to be experienced, not just consumed."

Going to market only a bit over a year ago, Gancedo's global social connections helped kick off the brand from Qatar to Buenos Aires, New York to Delhi and Zurich to Dubai, before Dominium showcased itself to the broader public at InterTabac 2024.

While Estelí may be Nicaragua's undisputed cigar capital, Dominium hails from Jalapa. A reason enough to give this excellent and versatile cigar a try.

"Once you get into the cigar world, it grips you with a passion, you become obsessed. It's like a burning fire within that will never extinguish."
